Spring Flurries

The flowers have blossomed, the weather is serene and the city is finally starting to look lively again. It was the perfect setting for an post-lunch stroll in the park. Maintaining a neutral palette was my goal with this outfit, with an added pop of colour from the necklace. You might have noticed that I've been wearing white tee's quite a bit this Spring as they coordinate well with almost any outfit; easily interchangeable from a simple look to something more ornate when complemented with accessories. The t-shirt I'm wearing is from a recent collaboration with The Classic Brand. I prefer comfortable tops in warmer temperatures and the sleeve length on this tee is matches my preference perfectly for loose fit tee's!

Black on Black

Black on black on black kind of day. Regardless of the season, I always find myself drawn to the simplicity of a black wardrobe. It's simple, chic and easy to accessorize. I'm wearing my high heeled knee high boots whilst running errands and it looks like this is the last of boot appropriate weather (if even so) because mother nature seems to have skipped the in-between and jumped straight to the dreaded humidity of summer. (This outfit was from a few weeks ago, pre hair cut in case you were wondering!)

The Yellow Handbag

A business casual day at the office calls for minimal accessories and a striped cropped top. A simple two toned outfit like this one is the perfect opportunity for a bright handbag so I'm carrying my yellow satchel from Call It Spring. It adds character to the outfit without misappropriating the business casual look.

The Boyfriend Jeans

It was a jeans and tee kind of day and mother nature decided to let it shine after several days of rainfall. I was skeptical about the distressed jean trend and although I own a few pairs, it took me a while to build up the courage to actually wear them. My parents are extremely conservative and wouldn't expect to see me in ripped jeans so their first instinct would be to replace them with a brand new pair. Growing up, when your jeans got a tear in them, you threw them out. It's funny that we're now paying hundreds of dollars for deliberately torn jeans but I guess that's the price you pay to keep up with the trends!
Sporting my ripped boyfriend jeans from Zara with a plain white oversized tee for a casual day out. When it comes to these jeans and other loose bottoms, I like to wear a thick heel because aside from the comfort and stability, they offer balance and proportionality to the overall look. These lace-up cutout heels from Call It Spring are the best of both worlds when it comes to height and comfort.

21 Years Young

Yesterday I celebrated my 21st birthday and I'm finding it hard to accept that I'm actually 21! This milestone seems to be accompanied with a certain level of maturity as I'm officially legal everywhere and will never from this point on be considered "underaged" for anything.....except to rent a car in the States ;)

L'AMÔUR

Love is simple with today's look. It was a black and white kinda day with this  L'AMÔUR pull over from H&M and ASOS slimming skinnies. This sweater is soft as clouds and warm enough for Spring so no jacket needed! It's no surprise that I'm wearing pointed toe pumps because not only are they comfortable, they're also a light weight alternative to stilettos or booties.

P.s. H&M currently has a massive sale going on for their winter collection and various other items suitable for Spring like casual sweaters and skinny jeans. When it comes to sales, I tend to steer clear of seasonal trends because who want to be spotted in last years fads? However, sales on items that are appropriate all year long are sales that I'll take advantage of!

Going Blonde: Uniwigs Collab

I've always wanted to die my hair but could never commit to a style or colour so I've been playing it safe and opted out all together. I realize that hair is just hair and it'll grow back but lets be honest, commitment issues. I've been au naturel since birth but I've been meaning to experiment with extensions that'd allow me to change up my hair without the fear of regret. When Uniwigs contacted me for a collab it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go.

Uniwigs sells synthetic and human hair extensions and wigs in a variety of different colours, lengths and textures. I'm wearing the 24" 7 piece synthetic clip-ins found (here). Upon receiving the extensions I though that I'd have an issue because my hair was longer than the blonde ends but it turns out that this just helps with blending to deliver a more subtle look.
The quality is great and the hair doesn't shed which I know is a common issues with cheap hair pieces. When it comes to the application, understandably, the longer your hair, the more difficult and time consuming it will be to apply the extensions. Although, the overall process is fairly simple and easy to follow. So if you're anything like me and cannot seem to build up the courage to make it semi-permanent, head over to Uniwigs and try out some fun looks this summer!

P.s Yes these photos were taken with yesterday's outfit post I just threw a plain white tee on top so the extensions were more prominent!

Boyfriend Tee

During my recent trip to Forever 21, I was drawn to the mens sections after spotting a rack full of graphic muscle tees with the most vibrant and creative summer prints. After seeing this one I didn't care that it was Forever 21 Mens, I just knew that I wasn't leaving without it. There are so many ways to wear this tee but I decided to go with a biker/festival/urban look, wearing a leather hat and leather pants. For footwear, lace up sneakers were essential for both comfort and to maintain casual vibe.

I'm not sure if you guys noticed but I changed up my hair! Well temporarily... I'm actually wearing ombre extensions from Uniwigs. A post on my collab with Uniwigs will be up soon :)

Last Minute Mother's Day Gift Ideas

As we all know Mother's Day is tomorrow and although every mom (or motherly figure) deserves special treatment everyday for their unconditional love towards us, tomorrow is a day that should be dedicated to reassuring them that we truly care and appreciate their continuous love, support and hard work to make our lives easier...because let's be honest, where would we be without them?

What do you get someone who has given you everything? That's a tough one but if you haven't planned anything as of yet (tsk tsk), here's a start with some last minute gift ideas to help make the day extra special for the moms out there.

(1) Flowers - Present your mom with a floral arrangement because what woman doesn't like receiving flowers? Don't worry about the markets being sold out, they're prepared for the last minute crowd!

(2) Breakfast in bed - Today's the one day a year you must wake up before your mom. She's been doing it your entire life preparing you for school, first day of college, first day of work (etc. ) and she deserves a break. Make her favourite breakfast and try not to wreck the kitchen!

(3) Spa Day - Mommas need pampering too. Treat her to a relaxing spa day because a massage and quality time with her daughter (or son) is what she needs, trust me!

(4) Fragrance Set - This perfume sampler from Shoppers Drug Mart is the perfect gift for your mom. Not only does she get a variety of sample scents to try out, included is also a voucher for a regular sized bottle once she's selected her favourite scent. Just remember to be a darling and offer to redeem the voucher once she's selected her favourite.

(5) Gardening tools - If your mom's a gardener, get her everything she needs this season from rose seeds, tulip pots, tools, garden fixtures, etc.

(6) Tea - Tea is an alternative gift idea to the annual "Best Mom Ever" mug. After 20 mugs she probably has enough so head over to Teavana or Davids Tea and get her favourite tea flavours.

Mother's Day DONTs
> Gift cards are an absolute NO. Nothing says you couldn't care less than swiping on a couple of $$ and presenting a plastic card. Remember: not all gifts have to have monetary value, it's the thought that counts!

> Don't take your mom out to a fancy restaurant if you can't pay for it! An alternative would be to host a dinner, set the table and prepare her favourite meal.

> A greeting card in the mail is not enough. If you can't be with mom tomorrow, a phone or Skype call is the least that you can do.

Just remember, it's the thought that counts. In the end, what matters most is that you show your mom how truly thankful and appreciative you are! It doesn't matter what you shower them with, they'll recognize a genuine gesture when they see it!

Hope this helps!

Double Denim

Happy Friday!
Rockin' the double denim look today with my Current/Elliott skinny jeans and Costa Blanca denim button up for a lunch date. The sun's out but the cool breeze means that today's all about layering. I threw on this button-up utility jacket from Zara because while it's strictly casual, the print covering the back and front pockets add texture to the outfit. There was already quite a lot going on for a causal look with the detailing on the jacket and ombre button-up so decided to wear a simple white tee with minimal studding.
As of recent I've been totally obsessing over pointed toe heels for casual and dressy outfits because they add class to just about anything you wear. A simple white pump is a staple piece for Spring and these white pointed toe heels from nelly are perfect!
